We designed a generously proportioned loft conversion with a balcony as a careful addition to this semi-detached Victorian house in Walthamstow.

The rear of the property faces south and overlooks a quiet green space in Walthamstow Village.Our clients wanted to make the most of the setting, creating a tranquil escape from the city.

We were able to secure permission for a larger-than-usual dormer with generous head height.

We designed a rear-facing balcony, a perfect spot for morning coffees or relaxing in the evenings. The addition of vertical fins provides solar shading to avoid overheating in the warmer months.

Internally, the space allows for an ensuite bathroom and large open plan bedroom. A bespoke headboard acts as a subtle division in the space and provides views to the balcony and beyond.The loft is clad in red zinc, providing a distinctive contrast with the skies over East London.
